Week 2: Ovulation & Fertilization

Ovulation occurs around day 14. If sperm meets egg, fertilization creates a single-cell zygote with a complete set of 46 chromosomes.

Your Body This Week

An egg is released and travels down the fallopian tube. If fertilized, the zygote begins dividing as it moves toward the uterus.

Common Symptoms

• Ovulation pain (mittelschmerz)
• Increased cervical mucus
• Slight temperature rise
• Increased libido
